Bill Behrman sermon and healing service @ New Creation Church 5/25/08Faith, Hope and Love
Romans 8:25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
Romans 15:4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Romans 15:13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 3:14But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened."
3:15But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
3:16keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
3:17It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
Hebrews 6:19We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
Hebrews 3:6But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.
Hebrews 10:35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
Hebrews 10:23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
Hope expects
Faith obtains
God is the giver of hope
Hope is joyful, confident expectation---expect things to happen!
Hope pushes aside the things that lead to doubt.
Hope is a condition in your life that marks you, sets you apart.
Love this quote:
"The place God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet." (Buechner)
